As every year, Skyscanner has toured the Italian regions to discover the most beautiful cities and towns in Italy. Mountain villages with living traditions, cities suspended between the sea and the sky, UNESCO Sites, country villages with rural charm and little gems to be known. Alberobello has been named among these Italian wonders. Ancient stories of brigands and millenary traditions characterize the history of this place, one of the most famous places in Puglia in the world. The conical houses made of dry stone, which dot the picturesque Rione Monti, have transformed this small town into a great UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Counts of Acquaviva d’Aragona, owners of this territory, to avoid paying taxes for new buildings in the Kingdom of Naples, decided to have houses built without mortar, easy to dismantle, and thus the trulli were born! Make your way through crowds of tourists to admire this incredible rural village, reach the Church of Sant’Antonio and say goodbye to the Siamese Trullo, whose particular shape can be traced back to the legend of two brothers in love with the same woman, who once discovered the intrigue they decided to divide the trullo inherited from their father in two.
